The Citrus Roots Collective

Grown in the Groves, Rooted in the Music.

An Americana collective chasing authentic music and soulful energy.

Citrus Roots is an artisanal music project led by Erin Bryce-Hoffer. Inspired by the rugged Florida landscape, the sweet smell of the citrus blossoms and the deep history of American music, the project blends folk music's  storytelling with gritty country and blues energy. It is music with dirt under its nails—honest, raw, and deeply soulful.

Our Story: Family Rooted in Citrus Roots

From a young age, two siblings — Erin and David — loved music.

Growing up in the 80s, they were like most kids — drinking from the hose, spending long afternoons playing in the orange groves behind their house, racing bicycles down the country road, watching M.A.S.H. and idolizing the A-Team. But through every season, music was the constant.

David had a Garth Brooks album he played on a Fisher-Price cassette player. Erin had a Melissa Etheridge tape and would belt it out like she was on stage — usually in David’s room, since he was the one with the player.

Before long, they became musicians themselves. Erin picked up the clarinet in second grade. Two years later, David chose the trumpet. Their instruments echoed down the hallways of their home in Arcadia, Florida — sometimes harmonious, often not — but the love of music never faded.

Years passed, and music remained the thread between them. They traveled to concerts, camped at festivals, talked music endlessly and eventually each picked up the guitar — David first, Erin soon after.

On a Sunday drive home from the Spirit of the Suwannee River Music Camp after Suwannee Spring Reunion, an idea took root. Why not play together? Why not build something of their own? Somewhere along that long stretch of highway, the name "Citrus Roots" was born — a nod to their childhood running wild through the groves.

David designed the logo. Erin printed the business cards. The gigs started coming.

Over time, their paths shifted, but the roots remained. While David still plays and writes, he stepped back from performing, and Erin carries the music forward. Today, she continues Citrus Roots — honoring where it began while shaping where it’s going.

The vision for Citrus Roots is simple: music that’s grounded, collaborative and always growing. At its heart is Erin, with fellow musicians joining in from time to time — a collective built on shared sound, strong roots and whatever the next season brings.
